AP Talks - Judith Clark

In Conversation With Judith Clark

Our second AP Talk is with Judith Clark, Curator, Exhibition Maker and Professor of Fashion and Museology at London College of Fashion, University of the Arts, London. Judith has curated numerous acclaimed exhibitions including V&A 2006; ‘Chloé’ and recently the inaugural exhibition at La Galerie, ‘Louis Vuitton’, Asnieres. She also lectures widely on issues of dress display and fashion.

‘The Vulgar: Fashion Redefined’ Exhibition, at the Barbican London, where our Varvarra playsuit is currently on display, takes fascinating literary definitions of ‘the vulgar’ as a starting point and includes a wealth of over 120 stunning exhibits from the Renaissance through to the 21st century. Weaving together historic dress, couture and ready-to-wear fashion, textile ornamentation, manuscripts, photography and film, this carefully crafted installation illustrates how taste is a mobile concept: what was once associated with vulgarity is re-conjured by designers to become the height of fashion.
