The Glasgow girls get frisky in the Merchant City

Crash, bang, wallop, thwack...
These are just some of the sounds heard from the street outside Glasgow's new Agent Provocateur boutique . It is the resonance of buses, cars, taxi's and people banging into objects and each other whilst craning their necks staring at the evocative and daring windows of the lingerie shop on Ingram Street in the heart of the Merchant city. No more so than the day we had live lingerie models in the window, whipping the passers by into a frenzy. We even witnessed a Double Decker bus reverse in order for the driver to get some footage on his mobile! All of the passengers on said bus followed suit as did the poor pedestrian who was almost trapped under the wheels of the bus with this desperate manoeuvre.
Having been one of the hundreds of people waiting for this fabulous and long awaited
store opening
, I understand their ecstasy. Ours is the only
AP store in Scotland
and our customers have proven just how far they will travel for the perfect
pair of knickers
. From all over Scotland they flock to the shop and we have had people clapping their hands in glee and jumping for joy on our sumptuous carpet. Cars have been abandoned in the street and traffic wardens issuing tickets ignored as customers coo over
lace, satin and silk lingerie
.
The Agents
are already sprinkling sexiness all over the inhabitants of Scotland, let me introduce you to this bevy of beauties; Sarah (Candy Goodbody), Louise (Loulou la Touche), Iona (Peaches Galore), Claire (Brandy Blaze) and Kirsty (Cherry Kisses). My name is reserved for those that come and see me in the store.
They can be a handful and I have to keep a tight rein on them. At our Trunk Show last week they were getting ready wearing many of the
new lingerie ranges
in a giggling frenzy. I nearly had to use one of our paddles to keep them in line. It was a fabulous night of glamour, performance and decadence; Scots know how to party!
Many of our customers were invited to the event and we've been having calls and visits from them telling us what an incredible night was had by all.
We've had a real mix of customers; from groups of young women tentatively buying their first set of
real lingerie
(you can almost see them growing up as they exit the changing room trembling with excitement and trepidation) to nervous gentlemen whom you sometimes see outside beforehand plucking up the courage to come in -relaxed and happy when they leave laden with pretty pink bags full of
stunning lingerie
!
My favourite customer has to be my very first. An incredible lady in her 70's, whom we opened the doors for early. She took the entire range of Francoise and a
waspie
and left with a real spring in her step.
